Make Mama Proud

by david brashears

Local marketing and advertising professionals have created a new campaign to help promote “practical” choices people can make that have a big positive impact on the environment.

The new campaign, called “Make Mama Proud,” is focused on providing information and education on the impact consumer behavior has on our global environment, and how “simple” changes can have help us improve the planet for everyone. A team of local creative professionals through the Northeast Tennessee American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) Public Service Committee developed the campaign.

“The kinds of changes we are asking people to make in their daily lives are pretty doable,” says Kristen Wilhoit, one of the campaign coordinators and a local Art Director at Creative Energy. “We wanted to educate our neighbors on practical changes they can make that will make the world better for everyone. The campaign only works if the behavioral changes we are asking people to commit to are sustainable long term.”

The campaign messaging is crafted from the perspective of “Mother Earth” herself, and is focused on direct requests from the planet to the audience.  Examples of the kinds of requests “Mama” is making are;

  • Skip the straw at a restaurant, or invest in a reusable straw
  • Skip the plastic shopping bags
  • Invest in a reusable water bottle

If you’d like to learn more about how you can make changes that have a global difference, feel free to visit the campaign website, and sign their commitment today. Let’s all “Make Mama Proud” in 2020!

Office Workers Should Go Outside At Least Once A Week

A lot of office workers, and in particular those of us who spend hours at a computer, have a tendency to, if not actively avoid going outside, then at least not think too much about making a point to be outdoors.  I was intending to take a nap one recent stress-filled day, but was dragged outside instead, and I will admit that it did a lot more for my mood than a nap would have.

We are all treading water through our responsibilities or have gone belly up and are just riding the wave.
