Web Developer

DIGITAL | JOHNSON CITY, TENNESSEE HYBRID OR REMOTE (EST & CST ONLY)

Job Summary

In this key development role, you’ll be working with creative and UX professionals, digital project managers, digital strategists and a team of fellow developers to architect and build impacting websites, software and mobile apps. You will work side by side with experienced team members where you will learn and collaborate to solve functionality and interactive challenges – and take ideas from concept to reality. The position requires a high-level familiarity with PHP, mySQL and WordPress. Only Eastern & Central Time Zone remote candidates will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ability to take on and lead projects from start to finish
  • Manage both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and integrations with plugins
  • Accountable and motivated with the ability to work independently or with a team
  • Ensuring bugs and maintenance issues are dealt with in a quick and efficient manner
  • Discussing and analyzing specification documents to refine requirements and propose solutions
  • Assist team members with advice and quality assurance
  • Work with the management team to provide time estimates

Skills & Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in the following: PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, mySQL
  • Ability to work and customize various CMS solutions (preferably WordPress but knowledge of other CMS’ considered an asset)
  • Experienced with custom WordPress theme development and Advanced Custom Fields
  • Experience creating and modifying e-Commerce systems (WooCommerce, Shopify etc.)
  • Ability to create fully responsive and accessible websites
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of browser testing and debugging tools
  • Experience working with Git as source control
  • Capable of diagnosing and fixing bugs, security, and performance issues
  • Basic familiarity with Linux command line (crontab, bash, etc)

Must Have For Consideration

  • 3 years minimum developing advanced websites and web solutions
  • Web portfolio or links to relevant completed projects
  • Proficient in PHP (Object Oriented and Procedural)
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail is a must
  • Experience with Symfony not required but a plus

This is a full-time position based out of Johnson City, TN, one of the country’s top places to live, work, play, and raise a family, and we would love to have you join us here. A hybrid schedule or fully remote is also available.
